Web-GIS Atlas of Birds (Bird Banding Survey, Data of recovery records)
The Web-GIS Atlas of Birds displays records of bird migrations on a Google Earth map based on results from bird banding surveys (data of recovery records). The survey was conducted by Yamashina Institute for Ornithology, commissioned by the Ministry of the Environment.
In addition to records from 1961-1995 compiled in 2002 as "The Atlas of Birds ", the database contains records from 1996-2011. Since then, data has been added sequentially. We reorganized and compiled as the Web-version "The Atlas of Birds" with some additional entries to every record: release/recovery dates, sex and other detailed information. Although some data such as those regarding the total number of newly released, recovered birds are not to be published, we plan to continue adding our new results from now on.
