Tsushima Leopard Cat distributes only in Tsushima Island, Nagasaki Pref. It is often seen
at lower forest under 200 meters elevation, including cultivated land. It usually lives alone near to human
residential area. Main diet is mice lived in forest, birds, frogs and insects like grasshoppers. Although the
population in 1960's was estimated at 300 individuals in the whole island, it is from 70 to 90 individuals at
present. Ministry of the Environment promotes scientific researches and captured breeding project at Tsushima
Wildlife Center.
