3. Objectives:

This webinar aims to

  • ● Provide information on international public and private finance mechanisms that can be used to implement the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF); and
  • ● Share good practices of activities supported by such mechanisms, inter alia from SIDS and LDCs;


in the Asia-Pacific (AP) Region. Presentations and discussion during the webinar will help participants to foster a better understanding on the current and future resources to implement the GBF and will foster momentum for its adoption.

4. Expected Participants/Viewers

The webinar will be useful for the following expected participants:

  • ● Delegation members of the Parties to the CBD who are relevant to resource mobilization in Asia and the Pacific region.
  • ● Potential/existing recipients of financial supports in the field of the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.
  • ● Relevant staff of international/regional/national organizations that provide financial support to the Parties to the CBD.


All participants/viewers need to pre-register through a dedicated web-link.

5. Resource Persons


● Representatives from organizations that operate financial mechanisms, such as:

Global Environment Facility (GEF) / Japan Biodiversity Fund (JBF) under the CBD Secretariat / Asia Development Bank (ADB) / Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) / Green Climate Fund (GCF) / Keidanren（Japan Business Federation）


● Users of the resources (in government or in non-government) from the Parties to the CBD.
