Attention in use
These are the Target Species's List of The Species Diversity Survey(Animal Distribution Survey ).
The "Species Diversity Survey" (Animal Distribution Survey) is one part of the "Biodiversity Survey" and was carried out in FY1997-1998 (FY1997-2001 for bird species) in response to a call to specialists nationwide by the Ministry of the Environment, the Nature Conservation Bureau.
Since the 3rd National survey on the natural environment (1983-1987), the Ministry of the Environment, the Nature Conservation Bureau carried out periodic animal distribution surveys focusing on all species. With each survey, the Bureau prepares the target species's list.
The following points should also be noted.
・ This list is prepared for the purpose of the species diversity survey;
it is not intended to include all species in a taxonomic group. Scientific names are not based on the latest academic information.
・ Conceptions of categories (including treatment of scientific names) do not reflect official views of the Ministry of Environment.
・ The order of subject species arrangement is determined for convenience by the Ministry of the Environment Biodiversity Center of Japan, and code numbers are included for tabulation.
・ Different lists may be prepared for surveys carried out in the future.
