ąŁTowada-Hachimantai National Park 85,409 ha.:(Feb. 1, 1936)

Located in the northern part of Honshu island, this park embraces volcanic mountains, lakes, forests and spas.
Lake Towada is a typical tectonic lake and one of the most beautiful lakes in Japan. Oirase Valley, along the Oirase River running from this lake, is remarkable for its beautiful beech forests, particularly in autumn when tinted leaves add the charms to the valley.
Hakkoda volcanic mountain range consists of eight dormant volcanoes, and Hachimantai Plateau is gentle-sloping aspite-type mountain, and the shape of Mt. Iwate resembles Mt. Fuji. All are densely covered with natural forests and alpine flora, and there are many spas at their foot slopes. Goshogake Spa is a very rich and active hot spring.
This park provides ideal trekking, camping and skiing sites and presents extraordinarily beautiful scenery in spring and autumn.
