This park is located in the Seto Inland Sea
surrounded by four straits, which has various
natural and cultural beauties. It extends
for about 400 km from east to west.
The calm inland sea had been the main water-way
of introducing Japanese culture and importing
culture from abroad, and in fact, the areas
facing to the Inland Sea had been the center
of socio-economic development of Japan until
18th century. Hence there are many places
of historic interest. The climate is generally
mild with relatively small rainfall. White
sand beach and green pine trees as well as
ports and cultivated land present scenery
of harmonious beauty between human and nature.
Straits or channels are well known for their
rapid speed tides. Uzushio (whirlpools) at
the Naruto Channel are really worth seeing
in particular.
