MISIA

Born in Nagasaki Prefecture on July 7, MISIA is among the most well known Japanese female singers. Since her debut with "Tsutsumikomu Youni..." in 1998, she has released a large number of famous songs including "Everything" and "Aitakute Ima". Her releases have sold a total of more than 30 million copies, and she is enjoying remarkable popularity throughout Asia.

Her expansive five-octave vocal range and powerful singing voice have attracted many fans, and the live performances that seek for a near-perfect entertainment have been highly popular overseas as well. In 2004, she became the first female solo singer in Japan to conduct a tour of all five major dome venues. She also performed at Expo 2005 Aichi Japan, an environmental exposition based on the theme of "Nature's Wisdom". In 2008 she conducted an Asian arena tour that included Taiwan, Shanghai, Singapore, Seoul, and Hong Kong.

Including the long 2009 - 2010 tour "Constellation MISIA V Just Ballade", her performances have been attended by a total of more than 2.5 million persons. Her exceptional talents are not limited to music. Beginning from 2005, she has participated in the Japan campaign of G-CAP (Global Call to Action Against Poverty).
During TICAD IV (the 4th Tokyo International Conference on African Development) in 2008, she performed an "Africa Benefit Live YOKOHAMA" concert aimed at expanding awareness of African and global problems. At the same time, she also participated in an event appealing for poverty elimination together with Bono of U2 and Youssou N'Dour. In 2008, she established Child AFRICA. In cooperation with international institutions, this organization works provide support for children in developing countries, primarily support for educational problems. In many ways, she is working to contribute to society from a global perspective.
