Exploration the Local Natural Resources
The Environment Agency has been conducting National Survey on the Natural Environment about every five years since 1973 (All years are fiscal years), under authority of Article 4 of the Nature Conservation Law. The survey endeavors to gather information nationwide that will provide the basic data needed to promote and implement policies to protect the environment. photo

Vegetation Naturalness Survey/
Vegetation Survey
This survey was made with the aim of producing a national vegetation map, depend on plant sociology.
Specific Plant Community Survey This research aimed to clarify distribution and present state of plant communities, which were representative or typical, irreplaceable, extremely vulnerable.
Animal Distribution Survey
(All-species Survey)
Focusing on distribution or range, this survey was undertaken to determine the state of wild animals in Japan. The survey encompassed vertebrates, some taxa of insects and non-marine molluscs.
Big Trees Survey The objective of this survey was to determine the state of big trees, which provide habitat for animals, furnish regional symbols and are an extremely important natural resource that must be preserved, throughout the country.
Environmental Indicator Species Survey
(Survey of Common Wildlife)
This survey was undertaken to learn more about the distribution of species which would indicate and represent the present state of natural environments surrounding human habitation. A large number of people volunteered to take parts in the survey on common species.
